Can the 10% NQT release time be used for NQTs to attend training?

The 10% NQT time is for professional development. Whilst on some occasions this may be used for attending training courses it should not solely be used for this. The additional time may also be used for things such as visiting other schools, collating evidence for the Teachers’ Standards, observing other teachers and much more. It must not be used for PPA, as the 10% NQT time is only available in the Induction year and if NQT’s are using this time for PPA then they will struggle next year when they do not have it.

How do I book my NQT onto Hampshire Training?

Details of all NQT training sessions can be found in the resources section on NQT manager under 'training'.

Primary NQTs – once you are registered on NQT Manager then HTLC will send details to your school of how to book onto the training.

Secondary NQTs – you need to book directly with HTLC - see the training schedule in 'Resources'.

Is my NQT required to attend training?

Yes, we require all NQTs to attend training as part of their professional development.

My Primary School NQT is registered on NQT manager but has not yet been sent their training booking form?

If your NQT is definitely registered on NQT manager and has been approved, if this was longer than a week ago then contact EPS on 02380 383530 who will let HTLC know to send the booking forms.
